Ruperty's Red Fife Cranberry CakeThis delicious cake has simple flavours and a great texture. With the addition of the nuts and dried fruit each bite is full of comforting yumminess. We used our Red Fife Flour in this recipe but it can easily be substituted for Fine Grind Whole Wheat or Whole Wheat Pastry Flour. Is this cake named aft er an intrepid explorer, a famous inventor, or a beloved family member? Nope – just Rupert the dog who wouldn’t take his eyes off the cake or move while the photos were being taken. Sadly for him his doe eyed pleading didn’t get him any cake. So maybe it should be called Not-Rupert’s Red Fife Cranberry Cake. Enjoy ~J!

  • 1 cup non-dairy milk
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup Anita’s Organic Cane Sugar
  • 1/3 cup sunflower oil (or other neutral tasting oil)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or 1/2 tsp vanilla powder or seeds from 1 vanilla bean)
  • 3/4 cup Anita’s Organic Red Fife Flour
  • 3/4 cup Anita’s Organic All Purpose White Flour (or more Red Fife if 100% whole grain option required)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp non-alum baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup Anita’s Organic Wheat or Oat Bran
  • 1/2 cup Anita’s Organic Coconut Chips
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Anita’s Organic Cranberries


Strawberry Whipping Cream CakeKindly shared by Marilyn (Anita’s & Local Harvest Market customer)

  • 2 cups Anita’s Organic Cane Sugar
  • 2 cups Anita’s Organic All Purpose White Flour
  • 1 tsp of organic baking powder
  • 2 tsp of organic baking soda
  • Dash of salt
  • ½ cup Anita’s Organic Cocoa Powder
  • 1 cup of boiling water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 organic eggs
  • 1 cup organic milk
  • 1 tsp of organic vanilla


Blueberry High Fibre Blend MuffinsThese delicious muffins include our new High Fibre Blend which not only adds fibre to the recipe but also lends a toasty, nutty flavour to the muffins. Try adding our High Fibre Blend to your favourite muffin recipe by replacing 1/2 cup of flour with the blend. Enjoy! ~ J

Ingredients (Makes 12 Muffins)


Raisin Fennel BreadChris and Nick from Magpie’s Bakery are a little like Santa’s helpers. You don’t often see them but they do exist! They toil away all year producing delicious artisanal sour dough breads for our delectation. Here they are sharing with us a delicious Raisin & Fennel Loaf. You’ll need a scale and a little time but it is so worth the wait. Thanks guys for sharing!

Ingredients (Recipe makes 4 x 500g loaves)


Caramelised Onion TartDo you have vegans or vegetarians coming for dinner over the festive holidays? This delicious Caramelized Red Onion Tart is a winner every time. You can make the filling ahead of time and keep in the fridge for a few days. If you have any leftover it can also be used as red onion jam. Enjoy! ~J


Crust (food processor crust)


  • 6 to 8 medium to large red onions, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste


Sprouted Whole Wheat Breakfast Cookies

Ingredients (Makes 24 to 30 cookies)
  • 1 cup nut butter of choice
  • 1/4 cup sunflower oil (or other neutral tasting oil)
  • 1/4 cup milk (regular or non-dairy)
  • 1/2 cup Anita’s Organic Cane Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Anita’s Organic Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla powder (or 2 tsp extract)
  • 1 cup Anita’s Organic Sprouted Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 cup Anita’s Organic All Purpose Flour or All Purpose Spelt Flour
  • 2 cups Anita’s Organic Harvest Flake Mix
  • 1/4 cup milk (this is added later)
  • 1 tsp non-alum baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 cup Anita’s Organic Currant Raisins


Sprouted Whole Wheat Fig & Walnut Bread

This loaf requires very little kneading and effort. Based on some of the recipes by Jim Lahey – the no knead king of bread making - the longer fermentation period helps to develop a fabulous flavour. Enjoy! ~J

  • 2 cups Anita’s Organic All Purpose White Flour
  • 1 cup Anita’s Organic Sprouted Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cups warm water
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 3/4 cup Anita’s Organic Tena Figs, chopped
